Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
Prerequisite: Advanced Pup 1 or 2, or Basic Obedience.
This course is designed to prepare you and your dog for the skills necessary to take the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Test. The CGC test is a
nationally recognized certification program designed to reward dogs who demonstrate good manners in the home and the community. Your dog
will practice the basic skills of sit, down, stay, come and walk on a loose leash. They will learn how to sit politely for petting, how to remain calm
with another person while you are out of site and how to greet another dog and handler team.
CGC training provides a great foundation for dogs and owners who desire continuing in performance sports such as competition obedience or
rally, agility and therapy dog work.
Advanced Canine Good Citizen CGCA
Prerequisite: For Dogs who have completed their CGC certification
The goal of AKC Community Canine is to test the dog’s skills in a natural setting, for example walking in a local park, in a store or on a busy
sidewalk through a real crowd of people. As with CGC, AKC Community Canine has a 10-step test of skills that the dog must pass to earn the
official AKC Community Canine title. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC. All testing will be done on leash.
This class will involve training sessions in various locations.
