ALL dogs MUST BE ON LEASH unless they are in the enclosed obedience/agility training areas.
Collars:
•
Puppies & fearful dogs: For the safety of all puppies and shy, timid or nervous adult dogs, I highly recommend a
Martingale style collar. With these collars, your dog will less likely be able to wiggle out of his collar and run away. You
may also have your dog on a harness.
•
Head collars: (Walk ‘N Train ,Halti, Gentle Leader, etc) All head collars for pups or adult dogs are allowed for training.
•
Competition Show handling class: Buckle collars, show ring martingale or chain slip collars are allowed. For
competition show handling classes please bring your appropriate show collar and leash you will be using in the breed
ring.
•
Rally and Competition Obedience class: Buckle collars, breakaway collars, show slip collars. Prong collars for
competition obedience classes may be allowed for training with permission from instructors.
Leashes:
•
No longer than a 6 foot leash. A preferred leash of 4 ft. is recommended for initial obedience training. Absolutely NO
retractable leashes allowed in class.
Treats:
•
Please bring a variety of small soft treats for training. Your training treats should be something special that your dog
only gets while at class. Some recommendations are: hotdogs, string cheese, treat rolls or any commercially prepared
treats. Chicken and beef are fine too, as long as they are cut into cubes. Please do NOT bring treats that will crumble
or shred. This becomes too much of a distraction when training if the treats happen to fall on the ground. If possible,
do NOT feed your dog before class. You want a hungry dog who will be willing to work for treats. If your dog will work
for his kibble, you bring some of that to class.
Training bag/treat pouch:
•
A treat training bag will help you to deliver rewards quickly. A very inexpensive treat pouch is a cotton carpenters waist
apron, available at hardward stores. One size fits all! Or there are many styles to choose from in pet stores and online.
Toys:
•
You may also bring along any kind of a toy that motivates your dog. Stuffingless tug toys are very good choices.
Potty Clean up bags:
•
As responsible pet owners, be sure to always carry bags for clean up with you at all times. Please use the designated
POTTY areas for your dogs. Poop cans will be available for proper disposal of waste.
Scheduled Class Times:
•
Please arrive a few minutes before your class begins so all classes can start on time. If you can NOT make a class,
please call or email me to let me know ahead of time so we don’t hold up class waiting for you.
Agility Students:
•
This is a "participant" sport - including setting up equipment and putting it away. You must all be willing to help for
each class. By arriving early to help with setup or moving equipment, you will get in more training runs.
Parking:
•
Please park in the designated area for your class. Parking is not allowed on the road at any time. Use the driveway by
the garage or the grassy area in front of my house.
INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURE:
•
In case of inclement weather, I will make a decision by 3:00 p.m. the day of class to cancel or hold the class as
scheduled. An email will be sent to each student to indicate the status of class. It is your responsibility to check your
email, or call, to confirm the status of class for that day. I do not call each one individually due to the length of time it
would take.
Training Attire:
•
Please wear proper training attire. Sneakers are recommended for your comfort, and SAFETY. NO flipflops or open toe
shoes please! Dressing in layers is always recommended!
